after my visit to Novel at Main, I visit Novel Cafe Pasadena I was very impressed with the ( up-scale ) presentation very healthy menu I order the spinach nest was very good flavor, just little beat to much for one, just one question is not supposed to be the same food, flavor, etc. for all Novels, or Novel Pasadena has other owner or chef? I am just curious!! I gonna invite next time to my friends from the other side. overall very happy

Over the last several months the first part of my day has been spent going to the Novel (previously Groundworks) cafe on Traction Ave. in Downtown LA. And a big part of my commitment to making the trip every morning has extended beyond my love of coffee. The staff at this location has always been like a bright spot in my otherwise dull and often tedious day. Over the last couple weeks, however, things seem to be taking a turn at this location. First, the store is often out of supplies, including but not limited to coffee bags for purchase of bulk coffee. But more troublesome is the fact that much of the staff has been fired. Some have quit for various reasons not the least of which include not been paid for many weeks in a row or receiving paychecks that bounce. The following employees specifically were a greatly appreciated part of the business for me and seem to either not be there anymore or their hours have been cut to the point where I seldom see them: Desiree, Amy, Lauren, Dana, Beth, and Frankie. Seeing these people was a big part of my patronage of the Novel Cafe and their absence will definitely adversely effect my continued visits.

Great atmosphere. Tastefully decorated.
Good food, reasonably priced and generous proportions.
Service is friendly.
Surprise bonus while exploring the Cafe….an intuitive consultant in one of the spaces, Lynn. I picked up her business card. Scheduled a reading and was really impressed with her accuracy and professionalism. What a rare find! Such a good person. I just had to write and compliment.

Forgot to state the address.
I was at the Novel Cafe on Main Street in Santa Monica.
I will return for Lynn and the great food.
